Over the weekend my blog was downgraded from the Planet Drupal feed to Drupal Talk. I've been informed that Planet Drupal is not the venue for controversy, and since my last post definitely generated some it was decided I should be moved to Talk. I can definitely see the rationale behind this and won't be arguing the point.

In light of the core developer meltdown the article provoked, I would like to take a minute to clarify my position on a few things.

As necessary evils go, hand-coding php for Views block arguments has always been one of my least favorites. It's a tedious PITA and replicating it across unrelated sites (think related content blocks) has always sucked. Thanks to Views default argument from Context and techniques demonstrated by Seth Cohn we don't have to do this anymore.
